Use & safety guide
Electric sauna
Read this guide and all posted instructions before using the sauna. Posted controls, occupancy limits, and staff directions always take priority.
Temporarily unavailable: The electric sauna, gym, and lounge are closed through July 31, 2026. This guide applies when the sauna reopens.
Before entering
- Do not use the sauna if you are unwell, feverish, dehydrated, intoxicated, or affected by a substance or medication that makes heat exposure unsafe.
- Ask a medical professional before using a sauna if you are pregnant or have a heart, blood-pressure, fainting, seizure, breathing, heat-sensitivity, or other relevant health condition.
- Hydrate, remove metal jewelry that may become hot, and bring a clean towel to sit on.
- Check that the exit is clear. Children and anyone needing assistance must follow posted supervision and access rules.
Electric heater safety
- Never touch, cover, lean items against, or place anything on the heater or guard.
- Keep towels, clothing, paper, plastics, and other combustible items away from the heater.
- Do not pour water or any other liquid on the heater unless posted instructions expressly say the installed unit permits it. Never add oils or fragrances directly to the heater.
- Use only the provided controls. Do not bypass a timer, alter settings beyond posted limits, or attempt a repair.
- Report unusual smells, smoke, sparking, damaged wiring, a loose guard, or malfunctioning controls immediately. Leave the room and do not restart the heater.
While using the sauna
- Follow all posted temperature, session-time, occupancy, and supervision limits. Begin conservatively if you are not accustomed to sauna heat.
- Sit or lie on a towel, keep the door and ventilation openings unobstructed, and do not exercise or engage in horseplay.
- Leave immediately if you feel dizzy, faint, nauseated, confused, unusually short of breath, develop a headache, chest pain, or otherwise feel unwell.
- Cool down gradually and drink water afterward. Do not move directly into extreme cold if doing so may be unsafe for you.
When finished or in an emergency
- Leave the space tidy, remove personal items, and follow posted directions for the door, lights, and controls.
- For smoke, fire, electrical danger, collapse, chest pain, severe breathing trouble, or another emergency, leave the sauna, call 911, and contact Fox & Maple at +1 (250) 574-0024.
- Do not re-enter or restart the sauna after an electrical, fire, or equipment incident until staff confirms it is safe.
